Wake up – RAM

Wake Up” features powerful, groove-driven drumming that blends rock and funk, creating a distinct sound that energizes the entire song. This track is technically challenging due to its frequent use of syncopation, off-beat accents, and dynamic shifts. I need to keep a steady groove while managing intricate hi-hat patterns and sudden changes between loud and soft sections. The song also demands a high level of stamina, as it requires constant energy and power from start to finish. Overall, “Wake Up” calls for precise timing, a solid understanding of syncopation, and the ability to deliver an impactful performance that captures the song’s rebellious spirit.

Ghost Town – The Specials

“Ghost Town” has a tricky drum part that mixes reggae vibes with a cool, haunting ska beat. It’s tough to play because I have got to be super precise, especially with the hi-hat, to nail that off-beat, reggae feel. There are also many sudden volume changes that give it this eerie atmosphere, so I need to keep a tight handle on the dynamics. Plus, there are ghost notes on the snare that add some subtle texture, which takes good stick control. The tempo shifts around too, so keeping steady timing is key. Overall, “Ghost Town” really tests my skills in balancing groove with that spooky feel—it’s definitely a unique challenge!
